The ECC is an urgent application for the construction (connecting of the quick coupling steel pipes with clamps) the Temporary Omdel-Swakop Pipeline running next to the existing Orona Pipeline to Trekkopje Mine. The pipeline will be decommissioned once the Omdel-Wlotzkasbaken Pipeline is constructed and commissioned (ECC was issued in May 2023).
Namibia is ranked amongst the most politically stable countries in the world and due to the generally arid and dry climate, Namibia is among the top countries in the world with high values of solar radiation and has an average of 3000 hours of sunshine per annum with average long-term GHI solar resource in the access of 2100 kWh/m2. The applicant intends to explore the project area through non-invasive and invasive methods to determine if viable mineral deposits exist. It is foreseen that the exploration will include field mapping, surveying, literature review (non-invasive), drilling (invasive), trenching (invasive), Sampling, Analysis, Geological Modelling and Resource Estimation (non-invasive) over a period of an initial period of 3 years. The invasive activities would comprise digging of trenches and drilling of surface boreholes spaced from each other.

ECC is for the collection of beach cast seaweed in and around Lüderitz, including in the Tsau //Khaeb (Sperrgebiet) National Park, //Karas Region. Collected seaweed is dried and milled at an onshore processing facility of the Proponent before being packaged and shipped to clients.
The ECC for this project was approved in April 2017. However, the ECC has expired because the proponent was unable to operate due to several constrains including funding. The proponent has secured funding and is ready to develop. However, the proponent understands the need to first consider the environment before undertaking development. For this reason, the proponent would like to renew the ECC and start operation of the campsite.

AMENDMENT APPLICATION: Kelp Blue, intends to cultivate Giant Kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) at a commercial scale, off the coast of southern Namibia, near Lüderitz. Prior to them implementing the "commercial scale" cultivation project, Kelp Blue first develop a Pilot Project to provide important information and proof of their concept as well as monitoring of marine ecological aspects associated with the Pilot Project activities.
