Proposed Exploration Activities of Base and Rare Metals on Mining Claim 74468.
Sand mining is the extraction of sand from the environment. Sand mining is also known as 'sand winning'. Sand is a naturally-occurring granular material with a particle size between 0.06 to 2 mm in diameter. It is formed over time by the weathering of rock and is comprised mainly of silica. An important characteristic of sand is that it can be transported - by wind and water, for example and deposited. Natural sand tends to 'accumulate' in rivers, on beaches, in dunes and in valleys.
The application is for the tourism-related activities at the existing and operational Lodge Damaraland situated on portion Portion 14 of farm Khorixas Townlands no 884, Kunene Region, Namibia. For this project, ECC proposes to only develop a comprehensive environmental management plan (EMP) for the following reason Lodge Damaraland is situated in the Khorixas townland and is on a portion of land which is only 5.5 hectares in size. Small lodges by nature have limited environmental footprints and low potential for significant adverse impacts on their surroundings.
Rehoboth Town Council wishes to formalize two extensions within Rehoboth Townlands. The proposed township development triggers listed activities as listed in the Environmental Management Act 7 (2007) and therefore requires an ECC before the process to the Urban and Regional Planning Board can get underway.
SLB proposes to establish and operate a Liquid Mud Plant (LMP) in the Port of Walvis Bay. The proposed LMP will be used to receive, handle, manufacture, mix, store and transfer a liquid drilling compound which is used by offshore oil riggs.
