In 2019 NamPower obtained the Environmental Clearance Certificate for the 400kV Auas - Kokerboom. NamPower would like to apply for the renewal of the 400kV Auas - Kokerboom in order to comply to the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.

The applicant intends to mine industrial minerals and semi-precious stones from the mining claims. It is foreseen that the mining activities will include trenching and excavating. The Environmental Regulations procedure (GN 30 of 2012) stipulates that no mineral exploration and mining activities may be undertaken without an environmental clearance certificate.
