The ECC is for the Operation and Maintenance of Ruacana Power Station. Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. In 2020 NamPower obtained the Environmental Clearance Certificate for the Operation of Ruacana Power station. The ECC will expire on 24 August 2023. NamPower would like to apply for the renewal of the ECC for the operation and maintenance of Ruacana Power station in order to comply to the Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.
