The proposed mining activities of dimension stone (marble) on Mining Licence (ML 218) falls under the activities that are listed in the Environmental Management Act, 2007 (Act No. 7 of 2007) and EIA Regulations (2012). These activities cannot be undertaken without an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC). The proponent (Catseye Investments CC) intends to apply for a mining licence in order to execute mining activities. Mining will be executed by means of quarrying with a diamond wire saws and stone cutting machines for cutting off rectangular blocks.

Road upgrading from a gravel road to a tar road (bitumen standards) The proposed project is located in the Kavango East Region in Northern Namibia. It involves the upgrading to bitumen standard of the District Road 3403 stretching from Divundu via Bagani and ending at Mohembo Border Post in the Kavango East Region in Northern Namibia. The District Road 3403 starts at the junction with TR8/4 in Divundu and follows a south easterly direction for 8km to Bagani. From Bagani the road follows a southerly direction towards the Mohembo border post between Namibia and Botswana.
Mandy Investments Two Hundred and Ninety-Four (Pty) Ltd (hereinafter referred to as The Proponent) intends to carry out irrigation activities on the privately owned Farm Skaapplaas No. 414 North of the Naute Dam in the //Karas Region. The proposed project will entail the clearing and preparation of land, approximately 1300 ha in total, for lucerne (animal fodder) cultivation for commercial purposes. Mr. Morne Du Plessis, hereinafter referred to as proponent, was granted an ECC for small-scale mining activities on ten mining claims (70469-70478), located in the Maltahohe district in Hardap region. The ECC was granted on the 08 of October 2018 and expired on the 08 of October 2021. Although exploration activities have taken place on the area in the past, there has not been any mining or exploration activities in the area since 2018 due to the economic meltdown. The proponent has now secured an investor and intends to commence with the mining activities.

Renewal Application: (The current ECC expires on 6 December 2021) Operations of the Walvis Bay Salt Works (WBSW) within Walvis Bay Salt Holdings (Pty) Ltd’s (WBSH) mining licence (ML 37). The WBSW was established in 1964 and is one of the largest solar evaporation facilities in Africa, processing seawater to produce approximately 1 million tons (mt) of high-quality crude salt (NaCl) per annum. Salt is transported by truck from the plant to the Walvis Bay harbour for export.
