Renewal application for an environmental clearance certificate for the ongoing bush control and charcoal production activities carried out by members of the Jumbo Charcoal group scheme, headquartered in Okahandja. Important to note As the environmental clearance certificate application is for a group scheme, whose members are constantly changing, the environmental management plan (EMP) presents a strategic document, providing the environmental framework for units to follow and comply with.
For this Project, ECC proposes to only develop a comprehensive environmental management plan (EMP) for the following reason: Susuwe Island Lodge was already constructed in 2003, thus predating the promulgation of the Environmental Management Act (EMA), No. 7 of 2007. The lodge will only cover an area of approximately 3.1 ha and small lodges by nature have limited environmental footprints and low potential for significant adverse impacts on their surroundings. This is a pre-established lodge. A fire that occurred in 2015 severely damaged the facilities, which now need extensive renovations.
LISTED ACTIVITY: FORESTRY ACTIVITIES (4) The clearance of forest areas, deforestation, aforestation, timber harvesting or any other related activity that requires authorisation in terms of the Forest Act, 2001 (Act No. 12 of 2001) or any other law. EIA SCREENING FINDING: - Cutting (harvesting) of encroacher tree species. Bush control activities will stay within the boundaries of the farm which will be divided into smaller camps. The total area dedicated to bush thinning activities will cover less than 5000 ha.

The proponent intends to establish a lodge development on Liadura Islands in the Nkasa Rupara National Park in the Zambezi Region. Liadura Island is situated at Sangwali in the Judea Lyamboloma Constituency. The Liadura Islands are situated between the Nkasa and Rupara Islands in the Nkasa Rupara National Park, which presents an exceptional and pristine natural environment. These Islands are characterised by their seclusion and expansive landscapes, which remain accessible even during the rainy season with the construction of wooden bridges.

NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of the Konkiep - Bethanie electrical reticulation system and associated infrastructures to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.

NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of the existing Kokerboom - Tses reticulation system to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.
Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of Aussenkehr - Aussenkehr North and South electrical reticulation system to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.

The ECC is required for Upgrading MR76 from Gravel Road Standards to Bitumen Road Standards. The project road provides critical connectivity between northern Namibia, Angola, and the coastal Erongo Region. Once upgraded to bitumen standards, MR76 will form a vital part of Namibia’s regional road network, supporting both rural and urban development along its corridor. Road infrastructure plays a key role in improving socio-economic development. The upgrade of MR76 is expected to: Enhance access to health, education, and markets.
