Puma Energy (Namibia) (Pty) Ltd requested Geo Pollution Technologies (Pty) Ltd to undertake an environmental assessment for an existing fuel retail facility situated on erf 225, Opuwo. The facility supplies diesel and unleaded petrol from underground storage tanks via dispensers on a forecourt area. To comply with South African National Standards, the Proponent plans to refurbish the facility. Once complete, the facility will supply fuel via dispensers in a forecourt area from three underground tanks, with a combined capacity of 69 m3.

The purpose of this application is to obtain an Environmental Clearance Certificate authorising Terminal Investment Namibia to undertake the operation and management of the Walvis Bay Container Terminal. Although the container terminal is located within a port environment already authorised under an ECC issued to Namport, environmental clearance certificates are issued to specific proponents. As the entity responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the container terminal, TIN is therefore required to hold its own ECC.

The ECC is for Fuel Bunkering Services within the Port of Walvis Bay, Erongo Region. The proposed service entails the ship-to-ship transfer of fuel for the refueling of vessels. The Proponent will act as an intermediary service provider between bulk fuel distributors and their clients, by transporting fuel from the supplier to receiving vessels using a bunker barge. Fuel will be loaded onto the bunker barge through approved supply arrangements and transferred to receiving vessels at approved locations within the port and associated operational areas.

ECC is for Harvesting of the White Mussel, Donax serra, along the Namibian Coastline, South of Sandwich Harbour and the onshore processing facility at Lüderitz. The Proponent has an existing permit from the Directorate of Fisheries for the harvesting of white mussels.

ECC is for the Land Reclamation and Berth 9 Modification Project in the Port of Walvis Bay, Erongo Region. The main construction component of the proposed Berth 9 modification project will be the development of a new platform (approximately 4.2 ha of newly reclaimed land) and associated heavy-duty paved laydown area (approximately 6.6 ha in total), together with the modification of the existing Berth 9 jetty to form a continuous quay wall.

ECC is required to cover the transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous cargo throughout Namibia and the SADC Region.

ECC is for the construction and operations of a jetty and commissioning of a floating dry dock in Walvis Bay. The jetty and floating dry dock will be utilised for general vessel maintenance, supported by shore-based manufacturing and repair activities mainly related to oil and gas industry equipment.

Petrosol Petroleum Solutions CC (the Proponent) appointed Geo Pollution Technologies (Pty) Ltd (GPT) to undertake an environmental assessment for the construction and operations of a fuel retail facility at Elisenheim Lifestyle Estate, Windhoek. The environmental assessment is required in terms of the Environmental Management Act (EMA) of 2007 and will serve as guidance for the approval or refusal of an environmental clearance certificate (ECC) for its construction and operations.

ECC is required for the continued operations of Atmei Construction Namibia's existing diesel wholesale facility in Rosh Pinah, //Kharas Region.

ECC is for the bunkering of marine gas oil (MGO) within the exclusive economic zone of Namibia. Two methods of bunkering will be pursued by the Proponent. Firstly, it will be the ship-to-ship transfer of fuel for refuelling purposes of seafaring vessels like petroleum, mining and fishing vessels that do not make regular calls to a port. Fuel is typically loaded into a bunker barge within a port, or from a floating bulk storage vessel, and the bunker barge then pumps fuel into the receiving vessels wherever they requested fuel to be received.
