The applicant has been operating a fuel service station situated at the corner of Sam Nujoma Avenue and 18th Road, in the heart of the harbour town of Walvis Bay for over ten years without an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC). The ECC is therefore required for the continued operation of the fuel service station. Furthermore, the ECC will ensure that the listed activities conducted by the applicant, i.e. the operation of a fuel service station is in alignment with the provisions of the Environmental Management Act and EIA regulations.

RENEWAL Renewal application for the 50 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) solar power plant with power line located close to Trekkopje Uranium Mine within the Erongo Region, Namibia. Listed activities triggered by the Project include: LISTED ACTIVITY EIA SCREENING FINDING ENERGY GENERATION, TRANSMISSION AND STORAGE ACTIVITIES 4) a) The generation of electricity; and b) Transmission and supply of electricity. The applicant wishes to apply and obtain an Environmental clearance, this clearance will allow exploration work on the Exclusive Prospecting License (EPL) No. 8832. The primary interest will be to seek for for base and rare metals, dimension stone, industrial minerals and precious metals mineral groups within the license area. Under the 2012 Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations of the Environmental Management Act (EMA) (Act No. 7 of 2007) the Government has made a list of projects which need an environmental clearance like mining, thermal power plants, infrastructure etc.

The ECC is required because the proposed river sand mining is classified as a listed activity under the Environmental Management Act, 2007 (Act No. 7 of 2007) and the EIA Regulations of 2012. Since the project falls within Dorob National Park, a protected area, environmental authorisation through the ECC process is legally mandatory.
