The Proponent (City of Windhoek) requires a renewed ECC No. 10431 granted on the 26th September 2022 and expired on the 26th September 2025 with respect to the proposed new and rerouting of existing City of Windhoek (Proponent) 66kV overhead powerlines networks linking Goreangab Load Centre (L/C) and Dam Wall L/C to the new Khomas Substation (Ss) around Goreangab Dam, Windhoek, Khomas Region. The Proponent is proposing to undertake the following activities: (i) New overhead powerlines to be constructed covers: 66kV Haloid L/C line Tie-In point to Dam Wall L/C Tie-In point: 3.88 km.

The proposed prospecting activities are listed in the Environmental Management Act, 2007, (Act No. 7 of 2007) and the EIA Regulations 30 of 2012 and cannot be undertaken without an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC).

Oranjemund is a unique, formerly closed diamond-mining town in southwestern Namibia, located at the mouth of the Orange River bordering South Africa. The area around Oranjemund has been regarded as a restricted area under the Declaration Diamond Area No.1 until withdraw by the Government Notice No. 97 of 2000. The mining of gravel or base material is one of the key activities of the town operations as it provides essential raw material (aggregates) for the construction industry and infrastructure development, such as roads and buildings.
