The Van Eck Power Station is located at the corner of Allen Street and Hosea Kutako Drive in the Northern Industrial Area, within the institutional boundaries of City of Windhoek Municipality. It is a Coal-Fired Power Station with a total of 4 generating units, each rated at 30 MW. The first two units (Unit 1 and Unit 2) were commissioned in 1972, while Unit 3 was commissioned in 1973 and Unit 4 in 1979. The station is recognizable by its two 103 meters high smokestacks or chimneys.
The ECC is required by the Mafwe Traditional Authority for the Proposed Subdivision of Farm Katima Mulilo Townlands No. RE/1328 into 18 Portions and the Remainder for Allocation to His Royal Highness, Chief George Simasiku, Mafwe Traditional Authority, Chichimane Khuta, Katima Mulilo Townland, Zambezi Region.The proposed development comprises the following: Eight (8) residential plots, one (1) General residential, eight (8) business and one (1) truck port plots supported by a 15 m wide pipeline servitude (Fig. 2.1).
The ECC is the operation and maintenance of the Auas Transmission Station in Khomas Region. In 2020 NamPower obtained the Environmental Clearance Certificate for the operation and maintenance of the Auas Transmission Station. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the renewal of the ECC for the Auas Transmission Station in order to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. Auas substation is located about 35 km outside Windhoek. The substation consists of low, medium and high voltage yards as well as storerooms, control rooms and offices.

The ECC is for the operation and maintenance of existing 132kv Lithops - Husab 1 and 2 transmission lines and other associated infrastructures. The construction of the 132kV Lithops - Husab 1 and 2 transmission lines was part of the ECC issued to Husab Mine. However, the powerline belongs to NamPower and would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of an existing 132kv Lithops - Husab 1 and 2 transmission lines in order to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.
The ECC is for the operation and maintenance of an existing 132kv Trekkopje - Wlotzka Transmission line including Wlotzka, Dolerite, Lichen Substations And other associated Infrastructure. Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity.
The ECC is for the operation and maintenance of an existing 220kV Rössing– Lithops transmission line including Rössing substation and other associated infrastructures Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the issue ECC for 220kV Rössing– Lithops in order to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.
