Abstract:

Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the Lüderitz - Namibia Airports Company reticulation system to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The 11kV Lüderitz - Namibia Airports Company reticulation system starts from Luderitz Substation and runs north-eastwards towards Kolmanskop and Lüderitz Airport, in //Karas region, supplying electricity to various supply points. This reticulation system is 13.8 km in length and is constructed with wooden pole structures.
