Abstract:

Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of Hochfeld – Hochfeld 1 electrical reticulation system to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The Hochfeld - Hochfeld 1 electrical reticulation system route runs south-eastwards from the Hochfeld Substation to the southeast of Hochfeld, supplying electricity to various supply points including farms in Khomas, Otjozondjupa and Omaheke regions. This electrical reticulation system has a total length 1074 km and has towers constructed with wooden structures. This EMP also includes other infrastructures that are Hochfeld Substation, Omaheke Substation, Otjinene Substation, Okambekere Isolating Station, Dalmuta Isolating Station, Stella Isolating Station, Peters Farm Isolating Station and Alfa Isolating Station as indicated on the map below. Hochfeld and Otjinene Substations cover a footprint of about 1 128 m² and 15.8 m² respectively.
