Abstract:

Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for 22kV Karas T-off - Grünau and associated infrastructures to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The powerlines in this reticulation system run from Karas T-off substation westwards to Grünau area and northwards past Mickberg Isolating Station in //Karas region supplying electricity to various supply points. This ECC includes Karas T-Off Substation and Ai-Ais Substation. Karas T-Off substation and Ai-Ais substation cover a footprint of about 8 982 m² and 144 m² respectively. This ECC also includes 19kV Karas T-Off - Grünau distribution line. The reticulation system has a total length of 154.1 km and is constructed with wooden pole structures. Figure 1 below shows the locality map for this reticulation system.
