Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the issue ECC for the operation and maintenance of Khurub โ Noordoewer reticulation system to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The Khurub - Noordoewer reticulation system starts from Khurub Substation and runs southwards towards the Noordoewer area, where it splits into two routes going south-eastwards and north-westwards along the Orange River in //Karas region. The Khurub - Noordoewer reticulation is 42.2 km in length and is constructed with wooden pole structures.
