Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of Aussenkehr - Aussenkehr North and South electrical reticulation system to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. This reticulation system runs northwards and southwards of Aussenkehr Substation along various routes supplying electricity to the farming community in and around Aussenkehr area in the // Kharas Region. This reticulation system is 38.8 km in length and is constructed with wooden pole structures. Aussenkehr substation covers an area of about 5 893 m². Other associated infrastructures are Aussenkehr Dam Substation, Namibia Grape Substation, New River Pump Station and River Pump substation as indicated on the map and they cover a footprint of about 152 m², 94.8 m², 75.4m² and 92.8 m² respectively.
