It is then intension of the proponent to permanently close Erf B (A Portion of Erf 825) St James Street measuring ± 3774 m2 in extent as a Street. The proponent further intends to subdivide Erf 252 into Erf A and Remainder and further consolidate Erf A/252 with Erf B/825. The newly consolidated Erf will be rezoned from Local Authority to Business to be used for Business purposes. The subject site is located within a mixed land use area and would thus be suitable for the proposed development. The exact type of business to be developed on the site is not known.

Grobler Transport Services (Grobler) was issued an ECC in January 2016 for a validity period of three years. However, during the validity period of the ECC, Grobler Transport have been preparing and finalizing contracts and agreements in order to commence with the proposed sand mining activities on the Okahandja River. These contracts and agreements have therefore been recently finalized, thus, they wish to commence with sand mining immediately, hence this ECC Renewal Application. The proposal by Grobler Transport is to extract approximately 130 000 m3 of sand in the first year.
The renewal application for environmental clearance certificate is for: Waste management, treatment, hanadlich and disposal activities 2.1 The construction of facilities for waste sites, treatment of waste and disposal of waste. 2.3 The import, processing, use and recycling, temporary storage, transit or export of waste.
Renewal of environmental clearance certificate - Skorpion zinc for the conversion of the Nam Zinc refinery facility to process zinc sulphide concentrates in addition to zinc oxide ores, in the !Karas Region, Namibia. The project involves processing of Zinc sulphide concentrates in addition to zinc oxide ores. The mine life was extended from 2017 to 2019 due to the availability of additional ore reserves in the pit. As a result of the mine life being extended, the refinery conversion project was deferred at that time.

Nine members of one of Southern Africa’s most prolific wildlife trafficking gangs were today (20 July) sentenced by a Malawi court to a total of 56.5 years’ prison time. The convicted were members of the Lin-Zhang syndicate and each was found guilty of at least one wildlife trafficking offence of a listed or protected species – pangolins, rhino horn, ivory or hippo teeth.

Onghalulu Farmers' Cooperative (founded in October 2014) would like to start with the bush thinning project and utilize the woody biomass into various value chains (firewood, animals' bush feed, furniture-chairs, droppers and poles) because this area is bush encroached, while waiting for the rangeland to restore.
