Western Yellow-bellied Sand Snake

Western Yellow-bellied Sand Snake occurs throughout central and north western Namibia.

Diet: small rodents, lizards, frogs and birds.

Like all sand snakes it is strictly diurnal, meaning they only move during the day. Sand snakes are extremely quick and are considered to be one of the fastest snakes in Southern Africa.

Sand snakes are mildly venomous, however the venom has no effect on man.
