Schinz's Beaked Blind Snake

Schinz's Beaked Blind Snake is fossorial, meaning it spends most of its life underground or sheltering under rocks and logs. They are very active just after the rains. The diet consists mainly of invertebrates.

It is a small snake, averaging 20 cm but with a maximum lemgth of 28 cm.

Most individuals have the dark mottling but some are plain pink in colour. Occurs from southern Namaqualand northwards into northern Namibia, entering central Botswana in the east.

Harmless to man.
