Abstract:
An Environmental Clearance Certificate is required because the proposed landfill constitutes a listed waste management activity under the Environmental Management Act (7 of 2007), and EIA Regulations of 2012. The certificate ensures that potential environmental, social, and health impacts are properly assessed, public concerns are considered, and effective mitigation measures are implemented before construction and operation commence.
