Abstract:

The indigenous cattle found in Namibia is known as Sangas. Four different types, called ecotypes, are distinguished according to the area where they are found; namely Caprivi, Kavango, Ovambo and Kunene. The question arises as to whether these ecotypes are just different populations of one breed, or indeed separate breeds.
