This application aims to obtain an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for mineral exploration on Exclusive Prospecting License (EPL) No. 10230. The ECC is a formal authorization required by the Namibian Government for undertakings listed under the 2012 Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations of the Environmental Management Act (EMA No. 7 of 2007). As mineral exploration is a listed activity, an ECC is a prerequisite for commencing work. The objective of the exploration program is to investigate the potential for discovering several mineral groups within the license area, notably base and rare metals, dimension stone, industrial minerals, and precious metals. To ensure full compliance with the EMA and its regulations, the project proponent has commissioned SS Consultants CC, an independent environmental consultant. Their scope of work involves conducting a thorough Environmental Scoping Assessment (ESA). This assessment is designed to identify key environmental and social considerations and will include an essential public consultation process to engage stakeholders. The findings of the ESA will form the basis for this ECC application.
