Proponent MAFWE TA, His Royal Highness (HRH) Chief Mamili VII, referred to as the Proponent: request for an ECC for gravel mining from an existing "quarry" near Katima Mulilo Rural, Liselo. MoU with the MAFWE TA Mr. Philip Opperman (Operator) of Katima Brickmaking signed a 10-year MoU with MAFWE TA on 21 August 2021 for Gravel Mining. Request for an ECC by the MAFWE TA His Royal Highness MAMILI VII at Quarry No. 1 The MAFWE TA hereby requests to apply for an ECC for the mining of gravel (G 6) at one of the 3 existing quarries (burrow pits) referred to as No. 1. These gravel pits were first excavated in the 1960’s by the South African SADF for road making and town and housing development. Early 2000 quarries were further excavated for the construction of the Kongola to Katima Mulilo B8 road and Ngoma to Katima Mulilo B8 road. The Proponent hereby is requesting the issue of an ECC to enable Katima Brickmaking to legally mine gravel from the existing Quarry referred to as No. 1. The Proponent is committed to comply and has therefore appointed Dr E Klingelhoeffer of Atlantic Consulting Services CC/ 2021/03824, through the Operator Mr. Philip Opperman, in the request for an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) based on the EMP to be submitted.
