The proposed Ekuahero Lodge and campsite development, Ekuahero village, Epupa Constituency The development of Ekuahero Lodge aims to support sustainable tourism while preserving cultural heritage and the natural environment. The project will: Promote eco-tourism and sustainable tourism development in the Kunene Region. Create employment opportunities for members of the local Himba community and surrounding areas. Generate income opportunities through cultural tourism, craft markets, and local services. Preserve and promote the Himba cultural heritage and traditional knowledge systems. Contribute to local and regional economic development through tourism spending and related activities. Diversify the tourism attractions in northern Namibia, enhancing the region's tourism offering. Empower the local community through vocational skills development and training opportunities in areas such as hospitality, tourism services, guiding, and craft production. The lodge will offer visitors authentic cultural experiences while supporting community-led conservation initiatives. The provision of the listed activities is as follows: TOURISM DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES 6.1 The construction of resorts, lodges, hotels, or other tourism and hospitality facilities. o The proposed project involves the development of Ekuahero Lodge and Campsite, including: Construction of lodge accommodation units and campsite facilities. Development of supporting infrastructure such as ablution facilities, reception areas, and internal access routes. WATER RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT 8.1 The abstraction of ground or surface water for industrial or commercial purposes. o Water will be required for domestic use at the lodge and campsite, including sanitation, kitchen use, and general operations. WASTE MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES 2.1 The construction of facilities for waste sites, treatment of waste and disposal of waste. o The project will include basic waste storage and management facilities to handle domestic waste generated during lodge operations.
