Abstract:

The proposed development involves the construction of a dedicated 20 kilometer power line to supply electricity to the NamPower Earth Electrode Station. The electrode station is a critical component of the national power grid, specifically associated with the 350kV HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) line. This line requires an "earth return" mode of operation under certain conditions to manage power losses, necessitating a functional earth electrode station .
