Southern Africa Desalination (Pty) Ltd, is proposing the development of a seawater desalination plant near Walvis Bay in the Erongo Region. The primary purpose of this project is to supply ultra-pure distilled water to support a planned Recirculating Aquaculture Plant and supply the local authorities within Erongo Region, and the public. This Background Information Document (BID) provides a brief overview of the proposed project and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process. It serves as an invitation for Interested and Affected Parties (IAPs) to register and participate in the public consultation process In this respect Junior Baiano Industrial Consultants (JBIC) cc have been appointed to carry out an Environmental Assessment study to obtain an environmental clearance certificate as per the requirements of the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism in terms of power generation facilities and clearance of land.
