Abstract:

The Renewal of the Environmental Clearance Certificate is for: o Activity 5.1 - The rezoning of land from - (a) residential use to industrial or commercial use: Activity 8 - Water Resource Developments 8.1 The abstraction of ground or surface water for industrial or commercial purposes. 8.6 Construction of industrial and domestic wastewater treatment plants and related pipeline systems. Activity 9 - Hazardous Substance Treatment, Handling and Storage. 9.1 The manufacturing, storage, handling or processing of a hazardous substance defined in the hazardous Substances Ordinance, 1974. 9.4 The storage and handling of dangerous goods, including petrol, diesel, liquid petroleum gas or paraffin, in containers with a combined capacity of more than 30 cubic meters at any one location. 2. Details of the Activity(s) covered by the Environmental Clearance Certificate: 2.1. Title of Activity Rezoning of Portion 22/18 of the Farm Brakwater No. 48 from "residential" to "industrial". 2.2. Location of Activity Portion 22 (a Portion of Portion 18) of the Farm Brakwater No. 48 is situated within the central-eastern parts of the larger Brakwater area in the Khomas Region. 2.3 Nature of Activity The activity entails the rezoning of land from "residential" to "industrial" for the purpose of workshops, offices and associated infrastructure, some of which already exists. Connections to bulk services infrastructure including electricity and potable water are existing. 2.4 Scale and Scope of the Activity. The Portion to be rezoned is 2,2351 ha in size and will be used for industrial purposes, as defined by the Windhoek Zoning Scheme. Coordinates: Latitude -22.420906° Longitude 17.074911°.
