Title:
250613005927: Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) reportfor the proposed installation of two bulk water supply pipelines from the sea to the inland seaweed aquaculture ponds Wlotzkasbaken Settlement, Erongo Region, Namibia
Publication Year:
2025
Abstract:

The project proposes to install two (2) 508mm pipelines at a distance of 1.6 km long, to deliver 42,000 cbm of seawater per day to the aquafarm, located along the Namibian coastline in Wlotzkasbaken between Swakopmund and Henties Bay, in close proximity to the Erongo Desalination Plant and conveniently near the Walvis Bay Port. It comprises of 3 pumps each pumping 600 cubic meter per hour. Choosing a series of smaller pumps offers a degree of redundancy but also affords continued efficient pumping as SKORPIoN improves efficiencies in the water replacement, which is expected to be reduced to as little as 10% per day, compared to 100% that the facility is designed for.
