Title:
250430005772: Okondeka Trout Aquaculture PTY
Publication Year:
2025
Abstract:
Swakop Council has given approval to farm trout in the old sewage works in Swakopmund town. Purified sewage water will be used initially to fill up the raceways. Thereafter, a recycling aquaculture system will be used to farm the fish. The raceways will be covered with shade cloth to protect the trout from the birds. Trout is a freshwater fish; hence, if for any unforeseen reason the fish might escape, the fish will not survive in the ocean. Moreover, there are no permanent rivers or open water in the nearby vicinity. The trout will be processed in Walvis Bay at an EU-certified processing plant.
