Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the issue ECC for 22kV Karas T-off - Karasburg to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The powerlines from this reticulation system run from Karas T-off substation southwards to Karasburg Substation, Karasburg area, Warmbad substation and various supply points in //Karas region. The reticulation system has a total length 157.3 km and is constructed with wooden structures. This ECC includes Karasburg and Warmbad substations. The Karasburg and Warmbad substations cover a footprint of about 143 m² and 5 861 m² respectively.
