David M 2024. Rhinocerous found dead in Otjozondjupa.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region is investigating a case of rhino poaching after four rhinoceroses were found decomposed near the Osire resettlement in the Otjiwarongo area. This was confirmed by Otjozondjupa Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, stating that the incident occurred on Friday. According to Mbeha, it was reported that vultures were detected in a camp where rhinoceroses are kept, prompting the farm workers to investigate what the vultures were preying on. "The farm workers discovered four white rhinoceroses dead and in a decomposed state," she said.

The Hope and Gorob mineral deposits are situated on EPL 5796 in the Namib Desert of Namibia within the Swakopmund District, Erongo Region. The capital of Namibia, Windhoek is approximately 250km northeast of the property and Walvis Bay is about 120km northwest of the property. Walvis Bay is the closest town to the property and is the main port city of Namibia. The property has been extensively explored by several companies dating back to the 1970s. In 2020 drilling was carried out to confirm the resource and to re-evaluate the gold contents of the deposit.

The invasive activities would comprise digging of trenches and drilling of surface boreholes spaced from each other.

Part of application process for municipal approval to use a Addfield Mini Pet Cremator for the occasional cremation of small animal pet remains in Walvis Bay, Erf 5185w. Estimated rate of cremations are 4 per month, making the scope is small. This is based on current remains sent to a facility in Windhoek. The cremator itself is not a permanent structure as it is housed in a movable shipping container.
