The Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) is required to ensure that the proposed exploration activities on Exclusive Prospecting Licence (EPL) 10769 are undertaken in a manner that is environmentally responsible, socially acceptable, and compliant with Namibia's environmental legislation. In terms of the Environmental Management Act, 2007 (Act No. 7 of 2007) and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2012, mineral exploration activities are listed activities that may have potential impacts on the biophysical and socio-economic environment and therefore require environmental authorization prior to commencement.
