Abstract:

Mr Günther Heimstädt of The Sports Village Number Thirty Eight CC owns Portion 8 of Farm Langstrand No. 42 (referred to as Portion 8) and plans to establish Ocean Key Hotel. Portion 8 is zoned General Business. In 2023 Mr Heimstädt applied to the Walvis Bay Municipality to purchase a portion (1000m²) of Portion 9 of Farm Langstrand No. 42 (referred to as Portion 9), which is directly adjacent to Portion 8, as additional space for vehicular access to basement parking, an electrical substation as well as a refuse area is needed as part of the Ocean Key development proposals. The application for Environmental Clearance is to support the Closure of a Public Open Space and the Rezoning of the subdivided Portion 1 (a portion of Portion 9 Farm Langstrand No.42) from Public Open Space to General Business in compliance with the requirements of the Environmental Management Act, 2007 (Act No. 7 of 2007).
