Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. In 2022, NamPower obtained the Environmental Clearance Certificate for the management and operation of the 132kV Harib โ Rock transmission line and would therefore like to apply for the renewal of the ECC for 132kV Harib - Rock transmission line to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The 132 kV Harib - Rock transmission line was commissioned in 2003 and spans a total length of approximately 127 kilometres. This line runs eastward from the Harib Substation to the Rock Substation, located in the //Karas Region. The Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) also encompasses the Rock Substation, which occupies a footprint of approximately 2,349 square metres. The transmission line is constructed using steel monopole structures.
