251127006742: The application for the renewal of the Environmental Clearance Certificate for the operation and maintenance of the existing 66kV Otjikoto - Kombat transmission line including Kombat Substation other associated infrastructures
Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. In 2022, NamPower obtained the Environmental Clearance Certificate for the management and operation of the 66kV Otjikoto - Kombat transmission line. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the renewal of the ECC for 66kV Otjikoto - Kombat transmission line in order to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The 66kV Otjikoto - Kombat transmission line runs westwards from Otjikoto substation, through a section of Karst Mountains, and then turns south-eastwards, going through another section of Karst Mountains, towards the Kombat Substation in the vicinity of the Kombat Mine, in Oshikoto and Otjozondjupa regions. The powerline is 64km in length and it is constructed with kamerad hare wooden structures. This ECC also includes Kombat Substation. Kombat substation covers a footprint of about 3 320m².
