The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR) is implementing the Namibia Water Sector Support Program (NWSSP), a program that is co-financed and supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB). This initiative seeks to establish sustainable water resource production and transfer, ultimately improving access to, and the quality and security of safe drinking water. The purpose of the King Kauluma-Omutsegwonime Rural WSS is to provide potable water within reasonable distance for households in terms of the Water supply and Sanitation Policy of the MAFWLR. The project is envisaged to supply approximately 5,000 people and 1,500 large livestock with potable water. The Environmental Clearance Certificate is applied for in terms of the Environmental Management Act (No. 7 of 2007) and Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, (Government Notice No. 30 of 2012), because the activities pertaining to construction of bulk water pipeline are triggered.
