Abstract:

Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of De Hoek - Talismanus electrical reticulation system to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The De Hoek - Talismanus electrical reticulation system route runs eastwards from the De Hoek Substation in the vicinity of Rietfontein towards Talismanis with various supply points including settlements and farms in the general Tarismanis area in Omaheke region. This electrical reticulation system has a total length 172 km and is constructed with wooden structures. This ECC includes De Hoek substation. De Hoek Substation covers a footprint of about 8 024 m².
