Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of Ombotozu - Ombotozu electrical reticulation system to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The Ombotozu - Ombotozu electrical reticulation system route runs westwards from Ombotozu Substation with numerous T-Off lines servicing communication towers and various farms in the general Ombotozu area in Otjozondjupa region. This electrical reticulation system has a total length 165 km and has towers constructed with wooden structures. This ECC includes Ombotozu substation as indicated on the map below. Ombotozu Substation covers a footprint of about 283 m².
