Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of Osona - Tower electrical reticulation system to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The Osona - Tower and Swakoppoort - Gros Barmen - Swakoppoort BST electrical reticulation system route runs westwards from the Osona Substation to Swakoppoort Base Substation with various supply points including the Swakoppoort Dam and farms along the route - in Otjozondjupa region. This electrical reticulation system has a total length of 56 km and has towers constructed with wooden structures. This ECC includes other infrastructures that are: Swakoppoort Base Substation, Okongava Substation, Tower Substation and Swakoppoort Booster Substation as indicated on the map below. Swakoppoort Base Substation, Okongava Substation, Tower Substation and Swakoppoort Booster Substation cover a footprint of about 588 m², 94.2 m², 54 m², 844 m² respectively.
