Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of Van Eck - Matchless 1 electrical reticulation system to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. The Van Eck - Matchless 1 electrical reticulation system route runs westwards from the Van Eck Power Station in Windhoek via Matchless Mine to the MTC Baumgartsbrunn Tower and to Khomaskop Substation, with various supply points including farms in the general area in Khomas region. This electrical reticulation system has a total length 133 km and has towers constructed with wooden structures. This ECC includes Baumgartsbrunn Isolating Station and Khomaskop substation. Khomaskop Substation covers a footprint of about 8.1 m².
