Abstract:

Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as “energy distribution, transmission and generation” requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of Blumfelde – Tsumis electrical reticulation system and associated infrastructures to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations The Blumfelde – Tsumis electrical reticulation route runs south eastwards from Blumfelde Substation to Kalkrand area, with various supply points including farms and lodges in the general area in Hardap region. The Blumfelde - Tsumis electrical reticulation system has a total length of 295 km and it constructed with wooden pole structures. This ECC includes other infrastructures that are Limerick Isolating and Cowdray Isolating Stations.
