Kamau Town Planning and Development Specialist have been appointed by the Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund of Namibia (MVA) to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed rezoning of Erf 1370, Keetmanshoop from "General Residential" with a density of 1:100 to "Business Zone 2" with a bulk of 2.00. As per the Keetmanshoop Zoning Scheme, business activities are not permitted on an erf zoned for residential purposes, which therefore necessitates a rezoning, which will allow MVA, hereinafter referred to as the proponent to continue conducting the existing activities in alignment with the Keetmanshoop Municipality's bylaws and regulations. In terms of the Environmental Management Act (No. 7 of 2007) and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (Government Notice No. 30 of 2012), the rezoning of land from residential use to commercial use is identified as a listed activity that may not be undertaken without an Environmental Clearance Certificate: 5. Land Use and Development Activities 5.1 The rezoning of land from - (a) Residential use to industrial or commercial use.
