The Stampriet Village Council, the Proponent, has appointed Samson Mulonga to carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and subsequent Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the drilling of a borehole at Stampriet, Hardap Region, Namibia. Under the Environmental Management Act (No. 7 of 2007) and its regulations of 2012, an EIA together with its accompanying EMP are required for the issuance of an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for listed activities, in this case: (a) Activity 8.1. – the abstraction of ground or surface water for industrial or commercial purposes; (b) Activity 8.2. – the abstraction of groundwater at a volume exceeding the threshold authorized in terms of a law relating to water resources.
