Abstract:

The bush thinning activities on Farm Management Unit (FMU) identified as Okakango no. 187 (consists of the Remaining Portion of Portion B of the Farm Okakango 187), located in the Otjozondjupa Region of Namibia. Listed activities triggered by the project include: LISTED ACTIVITY EIA SCREENING FINDING FORESTRY ACTIVITIES (4) The clearance of forest areas, deforestation, afforestation, timber harvesting or any other related activity that requires authorisation in terms of the Forest Act, 2001 (Act No. 12 of 2001) or any other law. - Cutting (harvesting) of encroacher tree species. Bush control activities will stay within the boundaries of the farm which will be divided into smaller camps. The total area dedicated to bush thinning activities will cover less than 5000 ha. - The following harvesting methods will be implemented on the FMU: Mechanical by means of front loader.
