Abstract:

Request for Exemption from conducting an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) – Luhamoho Conservation Agriculture Plot under the Community Livelihood Development and Human Wildlife Conflict Mitigation Project (Lifolofolo Ki Bupilo), Mwanzi Area, Kwandu Conservancy We are writing to you to formally request an exemption from conducting an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Luhamoho Conservation Agriculture Project, located in the Mwanzi area of Kwandu Conservancy. This project involves the installation of a borehole to provide water strictly for human and livestock consumption, as well as irrigation of a 1-hectare plot. The following justifications support our request for exemption: Minimal Environmental Impact – The project will not require any clearing of trees or major land modifications, as it will be implemented within an already established village setting. Sustainable Water Use – The borehole is intended for basic human needs and small-scale agricultural use, aligning with sustainable resource management principles. Community Benefit – The project will improve access to clean water for the community and support local food security through the nutritional garden. Compliance with Existing Regulations – The project will adhere to all relevant national water and environmental regulations, including obtaining necessary water abstraction permits. Given the limited scope and low environmental risk of the project, we kindly request an exemption from the requirement to conduct an EIA. We remain committed to ensuring sustainable implementation and are willing to provide any further information or documentation required.
