Re: Renewal of Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for the new Nampower Power Line from Obib to Zincum Substation for Rosh Pinah Mine. I refer to the formal renewal application of the ECC that was granted by your office on the 7th May 2014 (Valid for 3 years) The ECC was not renewed as the project was ceased at the time. As Rosh Pinah Mine is in the process to upgrade their operation the project will commence in the next months after the ECC has been obtained. The alignment of the powerline will be from OBIB to ZINCUM substation.
The ECC is an requirement for the issuance of the land lease hold issued by the Communal land board. The provisional land right has been issued and attached. The project envisage to clear the allocated land for the purpose of agriculture production and thus ECC is a requirement as per Environmental Management Act 7 of 2007.

Right-Path is currently dealing with a lot of delivery tasks for their brick-making operations. Their monthly consumption is high enough to consider having their own oil tank to save on the budget. However, in order for Right-Path to store oil on their premises, a permit is required from the Minister of Mines and Energy.

The proponent, Tipton Investment (Pty) Ltd has acquired a mining license (ML236) on EPL 7728, with the Ministry of Mines and Energy. The proponent intends to mine (quarry) dimension stone (marble and granite) in the area. The Environmental Regulations procedure (GN 30 of 2012) stipulates that no mining and mining activities may be undertaken without an environmental clearance certificate. Therefore the proponent intends to carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment study in order to acquire the ECC.

Roads Authority, intends on obtaining an extension to their Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for the construction of DR3650: Epinga to Onakalunga and DR4113: Endola to Eembo, located in Ohangwena Region. As part of the requirements by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, RA is expected to submit an updated EMP to reflect the extension.
The Omuthiya Town Council (The Proponent) proposes to formalize the Township Establishment, creating of street infrastructure and installation of bulk services for Omadhiya Proper and Omadhiya Extension 1, Omuthiya to be located on Portions A and B of the Farm Omuthiya Townlands No 1013, respectively. Gemini Poultry Trading Close Corporation obtained Portion 48 of Farm Stampried 132 to establish a poultry production and abattoir facility. The facility has four chicken coops that produce 5 000 broiler chicks per coop per cycle, furthermore there are 6 200 layer hens. In order to add value to the production process Gemini Poultry Trading Close Corporation has also established an abattoir on the same Portion 48 of Farm Stampried 132. Chicken stock for slaughter is supplied from its own production facilities on as well as from nearby local producers.
Galore Trading cc, intends to construct and operate a horticulture irrigation project, located ±2 km east of Oranjemund, on two bordering agricultural plots measuring a total of 64 hectares (ha) (Figure 1). The project aims to produce fruits and vegetables in the early stages and expand to various other crops, pending suitability investigations. The water for the irrigation project is proposed to be abstracted from the Orange River (located ±1 km east of the project site) to the irrigation site via underground pipeline and with the use booster pumps near the river.
Mr. Jasper Theron Uys was granted an ECC for small-scale mining activities on mining claims 69977, 69978 and 69979 at Otjokavare village, Kunene region. The ECC, was issued on the 19 June 2018 and expired on the 19 June 2021. There have not been any mining activities conducted on all the three Mining Claims since 2018 due to low economic situation over the recent years. However, the proponent intends to commence with the mining activities, hence the application for the renewal of the ECC.
Kunene Crush Stone cc was granted an ECC for small-scale mining activities on mining claims 70199-70203, 70207-70210 at Otjokavare village, Kunene region. The ECC, was issued on the 19 June 2018 and had expired on the 19 June 2021. The proponent intends to continue with the mining activities, hence the application for renewal of the ECC.
Strydo Construction cc was granted an ECC for Gravel mining activities on the remainder of Portion B of Swakopmund Town and Townlands No. 41. The ECC, was issued on the 25th of April 2018 and expired on the 25th of April 2021. The total area allocated to Strydo Construction cc for Gravel mining is 13.3 hectares of which about 6.65 hectares have been mined so far. The company wish to continue with the gravel mining activities, hence the application for the renewal of the ECC.
Refuse Solutions Group was granted an ECC for Gravel mining activities on the remainder of Portion B of Swakopmund Town and Townlands No. 41. The ECC, was issued on the 25th of April 2018 and expired on the 25th of April 2021. The proponent has been allocated about 12.3ha of land for gravel mining and so far about 4.3ha has been mined. The proponent wish to continue with the gravel mining activities, hence, the need to renew the ECC.

The facility has four chicken coops that produce 5 000 broiler chicks per coop per cycle, furthermore there are 6 200 layer hens. This is able to contribute to food security but also has the added advantage of creating several job opportunities. In order to add value to the production process Fresh Fruit Farming (Pty) Ltd has established an abattoir on Portion 808 of Farm Stampried 132.
The Iipumbu Ya Tshilongo Conservancy intends on obtaining an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for the construction of a dam with an increased water carrying capacity, that will be used as a source of drinking water for various animals, such as Kudu, Elephant, Springbok, Duiker, Oryx, Red Hartebeest, Ostrich, Eland, Spotted Hyena, Black Hyena, jackal, Guinea Fowl, Lion, Kori Bustard, Secretary Bird, Zebra, Giraffe, Kudu and livestock such as cattle, goats and sheep in the area.
Fresh Fruit Farming (PTY) LTD obtained Portions 811, 814 and 815 of Farm Stampried 132 to establish a poultry production facility. The facility has four chicken coops that produce 5 000 broiler chicks per coop per cycle, furthermore there are 6 200 layer hens. This is able to contribute to food security but also has the added advantage of creating several job opportunities. While operations on site have commenced Freshfruit Farming (PTY) LTD has been advised to obtain an ECC in compliance with the legal requirements.
Renewal of Environmental Clearance Certificate for the construction and operation of Soweto service station in Windhoek, Khomas Region. The site will consist of one(1) Petrol and two(2) Diesel underground tanks, each with the capacity of 23cubic meter(m³).
Sand mining activities in various rivers, Brakwater, Khomas Region.
Kunene Crush Stone CC was granted an Environmental Clearance Certificate for the following activities at Otjongava village, Opuwo in Kunene region. Small-scale mining on three mining claims (69263, 69264 and 69265); Sand mining activities in Otjongava River; Bricks Making project.
Salt of good quality has historically been mined at the Cape Cross salt pan since the early 1990s in the form of rock salt and re-crystallized salt. The Cape Cross salt pan is located along the coastal line, about 50km from Henties Bay within the Dorob National Park in Erongo Region. In 2009, Cape Cross Namib Investment (Pty) Ltd was granted a Mining Licence (ML147) for solar salt operations and subsequently obtained Environmental authorizations for these operations.
The continuation, development and expansion of the Okanjande Graphite Mine on ML196 held by Imerys Gecko Okanjande Mining and for the storage and dispensing of fuel in Okanjande area. Nature of Activity: Establishment infrastructure to support the Mining Activities at Okanjande Mine in the Otjozondjupa Region. Scale and Scope of Activity: The mining activities and future processing operations will occur within the boundaries of the Mining License 196, 20km by road southwest of Otjiwarongo.
The envisioned EMP for Q&J Namib Metals of Walvis Bay to assess environmental risks posed by their Scrap Yard operations, which include flame cutting, scrap recycling, and salvage operations. The site is situated on erf W2976, 27 8th Street East, Industrial, Walvis Bay. The envisioned EMP will help provide Q&J Namib Metals with options to ensure impacts of the normal operations are minimized. As such, the proponent requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as enshrined under the Environmental Management Act No.
The ECC application is for the proposed construction of Mobile Explosive Storage Magazines and Explosive Manufacturing Plant. This is done in order to comply with the requirements of the Environmental Management Act (No. 7 of 2007), and its regulations of 2012.
