An updated checklist of almost 490 vascular plants known to occur on the Brandberg Mountain, Namibia, is presented. Taxonomic changes and phytogeographic affinities are indicated. The influences of the physical environment and climate on the diversity of plants are briefly discussed, together with the impact of man and other animals on the botanical structure. The history of botanical exploration of the mountain and aspects of the vegetation are reviewed.
