Abstract:

A study has been carried out in a selected pilot area with the following objectives: To collect basic socio-economic information in the pilot area. To identify and describe key features of the present land use types, related constraints and the production potential for each of them. Identify gaps in socio-economic and bio-physical information. To develop a methodology for land productivity and economic evaluation of current and alternative land use types. To conduct a comparative analysis of land use types. To determine the economic value of farm land. To establish models to calculate production potential, economic viability of land use types and determine the minimum size of an economic farming unit.
