Abstract:

The Environmental Clearance Certificate is for: The 'listed activities' that might be included as part of this development are listed below: Land Use and Development Activities o Activity 5.1 - The rezoning of land from - (a) residential use to industrial or commercial use. Title of activity: Rezoning of Portion 22/18 of the Farm Brakwater No. 48 from "residential" to "industrial". Location of Activity: Portion 22 (a Portion of Portion 18) of the Farm Brakwater No. 48 is situated within the central-eastern parts of the larger Brakwater area in the Khomas Region. Nature of activity:The activity entails the rezoning of land from "residential" to "industrial". Portion 22/18 of the Farm Brakwater No. 48 is currently zoned 'residential', as per the Windhoek Town Planning Scheme. The Portion is leased and used by CEREBOS for packaging of salt and storage (i.e. warehouse). The Portion accommodates a single warehouse structure with internal offices and ablution facilities. The entire Portion is fenced in and access is controlled. The particular area of Brakwater has developed into a light-industrial and industrial hub. Neighbouring portion owners are NamPower to the north and Portion Re/18/48 to the west, which belongs to the Proponent. To the east is the Klein Windhoek River and undeveloped farmland. Connections to bulk services infrastructure including electricity and potable water are existing. Scale and scope of the activity: The proposed development includes the following activities; The Portion to be rezoned is 2,2351 ha in size and will be used for industrial purposes, as defined by the Windhoek Town Planning Scheme.
