An economic comparison of the commercial and recreational line fisheries in Namibia
Data from a survey of commercial fishing vessels is used and compared with data from earlier surveys of recreational shore anglers in order to determine economic values and impacts from both fisheries sectors. Both have economic impacts on the coastal economy that go beyond the direct incomes generated. Economic benefits are greatest in recreational shore angling, less in commercial line fishing by large vessels, and least in commercial ski-boat line fishing.
