Value added end-use opportunities for Namibian encroacher bush
Bush encroachment, i.e. an increase of bush density and significant decrease of grasses, is a national challenge in Namibia. It is estimated that 26-30 million ha of farm land are affected by bush encroachment, resulting in extremely reduced livestock carrying capacity, erosion, loss of groundwater potential, etc. The annual losses in meat production alone are estimated to be N$ 1.4-1.6 billion.
